Clergy and laity from the Diocese of Fort Worth comprised a little less than half of those attending the reception. Their questions dominated, with some pleading with the Presiding Bishop for “help to get us out of the wilderness we now find ourselves in.” Fort Worth is one of several dioceses that are likely to consider leaving The Episcopal Church when their conventions are held this fall.
Bishop Jefferts Schori assured her questioners that a plan similar to the one employed in San Joaquin has already been prepared. When the Fort Worth delegation declared that they have been forgotten in this battle, the Presiding Bishop replied, “Have you been watching San Joaquin? They were not forgotten and now show dynamic signs of new life. You will not be forgotten, either.”
If San Joaquin is the template, it’s quite a plan: botched removal attempts and lawsuits!
I would watch the diocese of San Joaquin! Especially watch Archbishop Venables speaking to hundreds of Southern Cone Anglicans yesterday in Fresno. Find the real spiritual life in the San Joaquin valley on the AnglicanTV web site.
If the Presiding Bishop thinks her visit to TX and her veiled threats in any way intimidated Bishop Iker, she is again deluding and giving herself powers that she does not have.

As one who was at this event I can assure you that Bishop Katharine was in no way trying to intimidate Bishop Iker. Good grief! She was responding to the voiced PLEAS from the contigent from Fort Worth that rented two charter buses to be there. They feel exactly like many reasserters do in a diocese led by a reappraiser bishop…oppressed, persecuted, isolated, and frustrated. These Fort Worth folk said theyfeel like they are hostages in a diocese that deplores the very church they are members of! All of the circumstances and issues that so many reasserters here experience in trying to live out fully and freely the traditional Anglican faith in a progressive or liberal diocese is what these reappraisers are struggling with as progressives/liberal churchman in a diocese that is staunchly traditional and conservative and opposes all things in step with TEC. They want help, aid and a way out. Sound familiar?

Yes, Dr. Schori. Thanks to AnglicanTV, I watched San Joaquin yesterday afternoon and evening and I saw and heard some faithful servants and followers of the Lord Jesus Christ. I was blessed and encouraged!

Yes, Bishop Schori, and I have not been pleased with the manner in which you have been operating. It seems that our entire strategy has been optimized as a quest for the property rather than a pastoral outreach to the ‘remain episcopal’ group.

I agree that the reappraising contingent in FW might feel, as you say, [i]oppressed, persecuted, isolated, and frustrated.[/i] But why is it ok for the PB to come to the aid of this group in FW (or San Joaquin, Pittsburgh, etc.) and not provide the same opportunity for relief for reasserters in places as Virginia or Connecticut?
The one sidedness of her approach to the church she claims to head is galling to those of us who want to stay and adhere to 2000 years of Scripture and Tradition. There is no pastoral provision for those who disagree with her that hasn’t been gutted at some point.
Perhaps the promised border crossings (by Bonnie Anderson and Mother Kaeton and PB Kate) are coming soon for these victimistas? Or shall they need move to the DioNewark for the full blessings of their “oppressed” viewpoint? That would raise the ASA in DioNW.
archangelica, I am sure that the reappraisers in traditional dioceses do not realize how good conditions are for them or how bad things really are in some of the reappraising dioceses. They probably are protected from knowing the extent of apostasy and outrage going on elsewhere in the church. I think you should consider this well, and I know whereof I speak, being in a lock-down reappraiser environment where a variant opinion is never heard and where astounding departures from the Christian faith are commonplace. (And I’m not even speaking of anything regarding the gay issue or WO, either.)
I would dearly LOVE to see KJS’ reaction to ++Venables’ visit to Fresno yesterday! What a time we had!
