Twenty-six Mission Organizations Meet in Virginia

During three beautiful Virginia spring days in April over 30 individuals representing 26 organizations gathered to network around global mission. This event, sponsored by the Anglican Communion Network’s Anglican Global Mission Partners (AGMP) initiative, brought together churches, dioceses, jurisdictions (such as the Reformed Episcopal Church), seminaries, and other organizations. All those present are focused on helping the church to send missionaries, interns, and teams, grow in mission understanding, and reach out across the globe sharing the Gospel in word and deed. The Falls Church graciously hosted this Annual Meeting of the AGMP.

Good thing the national organization cut back on missioners just in time. Save that money for important things in Virginia, like litigation.

Now we must add AGMP to our lexicon of Anglican acronyms, when will this ever end? Who were the Twenty-six groups represented? Let’s just be careful that we don’t simply replace one group of elitists with another one.

I read a while back that the Episcopal church had the highest laity to missionary ratio of any denomination something like 40,000 to 1, whereas the Southern Baptists it was 500 to 1. I have not been able to relocate that statistic. Could the elves or someone help me?

The relationships being formed between the orthodox Anglicans and our brothers and sisters in the Global South is one of the good things to come out of this mess.
