  1. John A. says:

What a painfully contorted time we live in! I care deeply about most of the topics in this document: relationships with other Christians including Roman Catholics, sharing the Gospel and even the MDGs are all very important. But this document is written by committee. Some parts ring with the sound of truth but so much is sadly twisted. While the MDGs are important and it may have been appropriate for the Bishops to have an informational session on the MDGs and the status of poverty and hunger in the world they have no business in AC documents. A better response would be to focus on tithing and to discuss how much money should go to non-christian organizations instead of our sister churches but to spend all that attention on the MDGs indicates a profound confusion about the mission of the church.

If we really care about our relationship with the RC church … We are in denial!

I live and work with Jews, Muslims, Buddhists, atheists, and Hindus. They are my friends, co-workers, and relatives. Sharing the Gospel should be a high priority but the following sentences, for me, summarize everything that is wrong with the Anglican Communion:
[blockquote] Our human relationships at their best are marked by a dynamism and interactivity capable of changing all involved through genuine encounters which lead us into new life. Those we called ‘other’ are no longer over against us, but present to us and us to them, human beings whose energy connects with ours and ours with theirs, those who are fellow guests in God’s house with us.[/blockquote]

Oh goody, a big section on the MDGs! Too bad they didn’t have a section on historic Christianity and how it resists heresy! Sorry, I think I’ll spend my time reading something more meaningful and consequential. This one looks like a huge snore. For those of you who really find something useful in here, please let us know!
