I hope the Standing Committee thought of that before going to print. She may make a preemptive strike and offer their statement as evidence in a court of law when it comes to it.
Well, I for one welcome this reassuring announcement on the part of the Standing Committee. It should help reduce the general anxiety level and any uncertainty that may exist within the diocese by making it clear that everything is still set for going forward.
The fact that it was a unanimous decision is encouraging. I note that even Fr. Jim Simons of Ligonier, an orthodox champion and one of the key early leaders in the AAC, a key leader who is planning on staying within TEC, signed this open letter. That is promising.
The idea of staying in TEC, as once envisioned by the American Anglican Council, whose stated purpose for being was the reformation of TEC from within, is no longer workable, since Schori & Company have made it their life’s work to expel every vestige of orthodoxy at every level. I am a member of the AAC, yet I could see where things were headed and have given up all hope of ever reconciling with TEC. If I were to do so, it would have to be on MY terms, not theirs, and they will not let that happen. The same would be true for everyone else.
My hope is that the evangelical fervor and confidence in the supremacy of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, which Bp. Duncan so winsomely exemplifies, will help the Diocese of Pitts. do what it must do: disassociate itself from TEC.
