I must confess to being amazed that their are NY Mets fans in SC and also unsurprised that they couldn’t use the entire slogan (“Ya’ Gotta’ Believe!”). If NYS DMV can issue plates to cater to a group of Yankees fans (who qualify as some sort of cult based on mysterious spiritual beliefs) and NYC can use public monies to build them a cathedral for their summer rituals, it would seem permissible to allow South Carolignians to declare their beliefs on their personally funded motor vehicles and plates

…oops!….” there are NY Mets fans”

I still don’t want people holding God responsible for my driving.

But with “I Believe” license plates, there would at least be some ambiguity about what to blame.

One reason I don’t put a Christian bumper sticker on my car is that I don’t want to be seen as a bad witness. 😉

  5. Harvey says:

Forget the license plate; paste your stickers anywhere. You don’t have to use the license plate.

The State has no business offering single-religion license plates. If they want to do this, then have similar ones for any religion. Simple fix.
