I feel a “Change” coming on!
Bluffton, SC, one of the fastest growing towns in the state, just laid off 6% of its workforce.
Hope the Microsofties and Bellevue Range Rover Democrats enjoy the “Change!”
My brother who lives outside the Twin Cities (Minnesota) his property taxes have doubled (he may have said trebled) since he moved in a few years ago. “It’s for the kids” is why locals keep approving these ridiculous increases. My brother went from “doing okay” financially to “barely making it”.
Are property values in Bellevue being reappraised? Do we know if the property values there are declining?
well somebody’s got to pony up for the 8 year orgy of spending and tax cuts for the rich. it shouldn’t be me because i generally didn’t vote republican, but i will get stuck with it just like everyone else. debts will get paid. the claims of trying to blame dems for what the republicans have wrought are pretty much falling on deaf ears in this corner…
Schwarzenegger wants to raise our sales tax 1.5%, and we’re already paying 8.2%. 9.7% would be the highest in the country, and on top of that, he wants to raise another $4.4 billion in taxes! The State of California will be bankrupt this February unless the legislature passes a budget……and right now, it isn’t likely.
Hopper, your last line is a keeper. More seriously, I hope things turn out OK for you.
Isn’t it crazy: we had a real economy 4 months ago, with real buyers and sellers, and now, we … don’t? What changed?
I know markets are all about psychology and trust, but, at some level, the whole thing is nuts.
#6, what, precisely, has federal tax policy got to do with city government? Did I miss the part where the city council is trying to pay down the federal debt with this property tax increase?
Just keep raising those taxes, folks. We’ll all be prosperous as soon as they’re high enough.
