From the Morning Scripture Readings

Sing praises to the LORD, O you his saints, and give thanks to his holy name. For his anger is but for a moment, and his favor is for a lifetime. Weeping may tarry for the night, but joy comes with the morning.

–Psalm 30: 4,5

  1. Larry Morse says:

Yesterday, the sun set at 4:05, a minute later than it has, so, silently, invisibly, God’s oldest promise to man is renewed again and ever again, that the sun will be born again and that winter will not last forever. For me, this is the beginning of Advent; I must go out back and get my balsam cut and brought inside. I also note that the sun will rise a minute earlier on – or immediate next to – Epiphany. Surely this is no accident. May He continue to keep this promise! Larry
