A lot of it also has to do with what the stores carry! When my daughter was in high school we had a very hard time finding clothes in the stores that met the school dress code! WE ended up paying higher prices at more ‘upscale’ stores in order to do this, and it took a lot of looking.

Now even Target and Wal-mart are carrying a larger, more diverse selection. Party, I believe, of the letter campaigns from parents protesting the stores selections.

After ten blessed years of school uniforms, my to-be high school daughter now only has to conform to a dress code. The stores are not making conformity easy. There are a lot of slutty low-cut, spaghetti-strapped, micro-mini short skirts and dresses out there. My solution has been to raid the sale racks at Talbots for skirts and dresses of a modest length – but I pity the parents who cannot afford this.

Uniforms, even thru high school, are the way to go. My kids did it, and it takes the pressure off kids to be stylish and/or trashy.

    Bob,
    I agree.
