Wow – WAY too many zeros!

2. DonGander says:

I suffer some kind of embarassment while reading through it – it was like accidently stumbling into someone’s honeymoon suite; I appologise as I avert my eyes and stumble back to the door.

God help us all.

Who the “heck” is going to administer all of this????? There is bound to be no accountabilitly — there are not enough government number crunchers to handle this monstrostity. Ahhh. I get it — we are going to retrain laid off blue collar workers to do this. Of course!!!!

4. julia says:

PS — I couldn’t find a category I fit into. Guess I’ll just have to spend my $13 wisely.

5. Terry Tee says:

Violence against women prevention and prosecution programs $225,000,000

What on earth …. I thought this was supposed to be money to build the nation’s infrastructure?

6. Observer from RCC says:

Truly a dog’s breakfast. Everything to do with a particular social and political point of view and little to do with stimulus. Oh well, we got what we voted for.

7. Branford says:

Terry Tee – very little of this boondoggle has anything to do with true infrastructure – it is the Congressional Democrats flexing their muscle – elections have consequences, and the consequence of this is massive government interference for years to come (and nationalized health care, to boot).

8. RickW says:

$1,015,000,000 for Various Indian programs. How many Indians are the in the US? Nothing against Indians, but are we putting them to work, or paying them not to work? How much are we spending per head? They must contribute quite a bit to congresional campaigns.

What if we allow 1,000,000 people from India to emigrate, occupy the foreclosed houses and let them work us out of the recession? (I read that somewhere so it is not original).

I am looking at the programs to see how I can collect some of the money and use it to start a business and hire a bunch of people – that is what it’s for, isn’t it?

9. libraryjim says:

Filipino World War II veterans compensation $198,000,000

That’s helping US stimulate the economy??? It may be a needed project, but why is it in this bill?

10. francis says:

Helpful?! in the sense we discover if we’re in quicksand or a tar pit??

11. Jeffersonian says:

[blockquote]Local and state fire station upgrades and construction $210,000,000 [/blockquote]

Can anyone tell me where in the Constitution it says the federal government is in charge of my local fire house’s renovation?

12. Katherine says:

The saddest part is that these details become available just before (or in the case of the House, after?) the Congressional final votes. Debate, legislative process, and any participation by minority party members have all been thrown out the window. Speaker Pelosi promised transparency in her Congress. She is a liar and a hypocrite on this one, the largest spending bill in history.

Both parties have episodes of which they are not proud. I’d like to think that thoughtful Democrats will come to be ashamed of this.

13. Marie Blocher says:

How does one get one of the many Office of Inspector General positions added. Sorry but the image of inspector Cluso (sp) kept popping into my head as I read the list of them.

Marie

14. Old Pilgrim says:

It would be nice if the voters who determined the outcome of the last presidential election suffered the consequences of their choice without the rest of us (and our descendants) having to suffer. I don’t expect that will happen though.

15. Choir Stall says:

America has functioned with a penduluum effect since our Revolution. A little socialism for awhile and then when people are sick of that we are back to unchecked individualism. Welcome to our socialist swing. Should last about ten years.
Goody.

16. teatime says:

I have a really bad feeling about all of this. Not just the “stimulus” but the fact that so many of the American people actually support this thing simply because they like Obama. This doesn’t bode well.

If America doesn’t wake up FAST, he and the Dems are going to be able to sell all sorts of nonsense to the public. Pelosi and the lobbyists are pulling the strings while Obama has already been back on the campaign trail with the “charm offensive,” getting foolish people to clap and cheer whatever the Dems propose. This is very scary.

17. libraryjim says:

Hopefully, the Republicans will gain some House and Senate seats in 2010, enough perhaps to reign in Pelosi and Reed.

18. Jim of Lapeer says:

This isn’t just pork, this is a national federal government sponsored pig roast for everyone. The fact that all these projects are being funded by money plucked out of thin air and to be paid back by future generations is shocking, immoral and sickening.
