I was walking downtown in my small Midwestern town the other day, and one particular store, which sells party supplies and such, had a sandwich board outside with the sale items. One of which was Prom Garters.
I was rather disturbed that they sell prom garters. No good can come from that.
I may be way off base but when my sons were in HS they would give their dates a corsage and receive from them a garter which they would wear on their upper arm. Usually the garter’s color matched the girls dress. This was a development that came along after my HS days so it was it was news to me at the time.
Looking back about 60 decades I gave a small corsage to my prom date, and wore my ONLY cleaned up suit. A local band played live music as we danced in a school gym.

Really? That’s a new one on me. That’s pretty suggestive in my opinion.
