Top Episcopalian returns to Oregon to listen, learn, hang out

The national leader of 2.4 million Episcopalians — including 20,600 in Oregon — hung out Sunday at a Northeast Portland church, participating in what she defines as old-school conversation.

The Most Rev. Katharine Jefferts Schori, who’s been at the center of an often-tense conversation about the ordination of gay clergy, told a full house on Sunday at Grace Memorial Episcopal Church that the word “conversation” slipped into English usage in the 1300s.

Really? What she should think about is when it is quiet … as people walk out of TEC churchs. At least if there is noise, someone still cares. But then again she never thinks when a reporter is around on how she might hurt the rest of the church!

    The article:

The national leader of 2.4 million Episcopalians…

Either the Episcopal Church is suddenly growing rapidly, or the article one more basic fact wrong.

It’s no big deal! I don’t understand what all the fuss is about! TEC has continued losing members and an increasing rate and the majority of members of the Anglican Communion no longer consider themselves in full communion with TEC. Some people think of that as a “bad” thing, but, as we say in the software business, that’s not a bug; that’s a feature! (/sarcasm)

If the issue of authority and the correct application of Christian morals to sexuality is “not a big deal,” then why are the reappraisers splitting the Church over it? Please be honest with us. Either tell us that blessing same sex unions is part of the essentials of the Faith – it is part of the unchanging faith of the Church or stop splitting the Church so you can continue to do it.

Nothing about the Episcopal Church is a big thing, and thanks to the like of the PB, getting smaller all the time.

Wonder which step of the 12 step program the “recovering dioceses” are on. Obliously haven’t gotten around to making amends yet.
