[blockquote] “I reiterate that reconciliation and renewal in Christ continue to be our priorities in this matter, with our baptismal covenant calling us to respect every person’s dignity,” (Bishop of LA) Bruno said. [/blockquote]

Whilst picking their pocket, your Right Reverendship? How about respecting the dignity of the faithful souls that actually paid for the property and have voted their conscience with regard to his Right Reverendship’s rejection of Scripture as the ultimate rule and guide for our faith and practice. The dignity that people have above all other living creatures is their ability and privilege to choose. Faithful Christians recognize and respect this dignity. We do not try to force decisions down other’s throats (unlike reappraisers such as his Right Reverendship who use every weapon at their disposal, including secular courts). On the other hand, faithful Christians do not have to condone wrong choices or obviously (from a Scriptural point of view) sinful decisions. On the contrary, it is our duty not to condone them in others or ourselves because of sin’s distructive power.

Nonetheless, that has nothing to with respecting the dignity of everyone to choose. That promise from the Baptismal covenant has been sorely abused by reappraisers twisting it to means accepting wrong decisions. Respecting freedom of choice, not wrong choices, is firmly grounded in Scripture. Reasserters need to remember this.

[blockquote] 16Live as free men, but do not use your freedom as a cover-up for evil; live as servants of God. 17Show proper respect to everyone: 1 Pet 2:16-17a NIV[/blockquote]
[blockquote] 15But in your hearts set apart Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect, 16keeping a clear conscience, so that those who speak maliciously against your good behavior in Christ may be ashamed of their slander. 1 Pet 3:15-16 NIV [/blockquote]

The diatribe of the morning. 🙂
