The nation’s Catholic bishops have threatened to pull their support for health care reform unless their concerns about abortion and access for immigrants are addressed by lawmakers.
The U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops, which supports universal access to health care as a “basic human right,” had been supportive of efforts to reform the health care system, but is concerned about taxpayer-funded abortions.

There is no such thing as a Progressive Catholic, Liberal Catholic, Conservative Catholic, etc. There is just Catholic. Either you are in accord with Catholic teaching or you are not. If you are not, you are not Catholic. So those who are supporting abortion and claiming to be Catholic are in the same predicament as Abraham Lincoln’s dog’s tail. You can call that tail a leg all day long, but it will never be anything but a tail.
