I do have one problem with this time line: no mention of the theological changes that occurred with the takeover of the Church when the ’60s generation began to move in. Like other articles, this one focuses on the issue of “GLBT” rather than the authority of Scripture.

    Who is R A Livingston??

This should be required reading for every member of every parish that chooses to stay within TEC in order to be a “voice” for the traditional faith once given. Maybe then these ostriches will wake up, and realize their pledges and dollars in the collection plate are being used to torment their ACNA brethren.

libraryjim, I assume that this person is attempting to talk with the folks in the pews who are okay with the theological changes. He or she is trying to appeal to the average Episcopalian — one who of course is not really aware of theological changes at all!

I think that in short doses, this is a good idea. Long-term it would be nice to disciple and scrupulously and determinedly educate laypeople about theology, tradition, the church, scripture, and so many other things that are lacking — but I don’t think that’s what this person is trying to do. I think he or she is trying to talk with “moderates” and those who are to the left of “moderates” who are not yet foaming at the mouth revisionists.

I think I know in great detail where my pledges and donations are going, and I can say with certainty that nothing is being used to “torment” my fellow Anglicans, whether ACNA, Episcopalian, CoE or anywhere else. If the continued existence of Episcopalian parishes has a tormenting effect, I would be sorry to hear that, but I have to assume that that impact is in the mind of the beholder, not because my parish or any other has tried to inflict harm on other Christians of any particular denomination.
