The French government wants to pass a new law banning, what it calls, “psychological violence” between married couples or partners living together.
However, there are concerns about how such a crime could be proved.
David Chazan reports from Paris.
While I certainly do not condone mental abuse, I think they are going to have a really hard time proving that in court without it turning into either a “he said/she said” or a “thought crime” kind of thing.
Of course, France has a history of trying to police thought crime, so I suppose I am not surprised.
Will this “sychological violence” law include that done to the individual by an oppressive central goverment or an unfeeling and unresponsive bureaucracy?
Spoo!
