1. Jeff Thimsen says:

All the usual suspects.

2. Ross Gill says:

I was wondering how the soul of Anglicanism was going to be saved? Now we know. Doesn’t this make us all rest a little easier knowing that the soul of Anglicanism is in such capable hands. I am left with a question , though: “Saved for what?”

3. jayanthony says:

I noticed that this conference is held in the Summer of ’08, long after these speakers, and their allies, have destroyed the Anglican Communion. This much like TEC’s 20/20 only on a larger scale.

4. azusa says:

Barry Morgan – leader of a failed church, pro-gay advocate.
Frank Griswold – heretic, ex-leader of a failing church.
Gene Robinson – schismatic immoralist.
Michael Jackson – moonwalker.

5. Rolling Eyes says:

Yet another joke from TEC.

6. Sarah1 says:

What an array of . . . never mind.

Good to see that, having done their excellent work on ECUSA, Bishop Robinson and Bishop Griswold now turn their capable and professional efforts to the whole of Anglicanism.

Like Kevorkian speaking on “Saving the Joy of Depressed People.”

7. wportbello says:

I thought that Jesus was the only One who saves…
Apparently not, according to the MCU website: (They are) willing to learn from others, within and outside Christianity, since we accept that we don’t have all the answers. Genuine faith is committed to the search for truth, wherever it comes from.

8. Kevin Montgomery says:

Usual suspects?
Do you also consider Bp. Mwamba of Botswana the leader of a supposedly “failed” church?

9. Daniel says:

Are they due for an upgrade to post-modern churchpeople’s union any time soon?

10. Sherri says:

Genuine faith is committed to the search for truth, wherever it comes from.
Their next meeting will be in Sedona….

11. Hakkatan says:

I certainly hope that Bp Mwamba does not become the Abp of Central Africa. I bet that liberals who think that they have influence are hard at work to make that happen. may God grant that the current orthodox archbishop is succeeded by someone of the same heart and mind!

12. azusa says:

#8: it will certainly fail if Mwamba gets his hands on it. Now we can understand all the angling to get Nick Henderson, the pro-gay London clergyman who heads up this Modern Church People’s Union, made a bishop in Malawi – to establish a pro-gay beachhead in Africa, beyond South Africa. & in South Africa, there is a lot of reaction against Ndungane – as well as another, small but growing, Anglican church, CESA.

13. Kevin Montgomery says:

# 11, 12

And your evidence for this is . . . ?

14. Milton says:

Nudge, nudge, wink o’the eye, say no more!

15. Mathematicus says:

I didn’t know whether to laugh or cry, but then I remembered what Robert Heinlein had the Man from Mars say in his novel, Stranger in a Strange land about laughter: “Laughter is what humans do when it hurts too much to cry.”

16. Sarah1 says:

RE: “Now we can understand all the angling to get Nick Henderson, the pro-gay London clergyman who heads up this Modern Church People’s Union, made a bishop in Malawi – to establish a pro-gay beachhead in Africa, beyond South Africa.”

Bingo, Gordian. I expect ECUSA leaders are working like crazy on future Primatial elections . . .

17. Dan Crawford says:

“The ‘soul’ of Anglicanism”, eh? If they guard the soul, there won’t be much left of Anglicanism to save.

18. Kevin Montgomery says:

Sarah (#16),

As I asked for #11 and #12, what is your evidence for this statement?

19. Brien says:

#18 for the evidence, google
henderson lake malawi mwamba
and read the variety of blogs, news reports, etc. Like Fox News: they report, you decide. Read a range of sources from episcopalcafe to virtue.

20. Brien says:

And, #18, don’t miss thinkinganglicans.org.uk

21. Alice Linsley says:

Feminists, homosexual activists and church liberals. Yawn.

22. Alice Linsley says:

Oh! I almost forgot the token African.

23. Sarah1 says:

RE: “what is your evidence for this statement?”

Sorry, but we’re not in a court of law. I have an opinion based on four solid years of watching 815 at work. Just incredible stuff on their part, and I’ve learned a lot from them. ; > )

Neat to watch them at work.

It’s fine if you don’t believe that they are hard at work attempting to control behind the international scenes. It’s not really my interest or desire to convince progressives of their Fearless Leaders’ efforts on the behalf of their ideology worldwide.

24. Kyle Potter says:

I appreciate the warm thoughts in our direction, but I really don’t think I (or any other Anglican) needs that kind of saving. Awfully nice of them, though. Ahem.

25. Kevin Montgomery says:

Sarah (#23),
I’m merely asking for clarification. Are you able to back up your statements with concrete evidence, or are they just biased conjectures? I’m not asking for proof beyond a reasonable doubt, simply the basics of reasoned discussion.

26. Sarah1 says:

Definitely biased — I’m a reasserter. Definitely conjecture. Definitely based on excellent observation in the laboratory that is ECUSA, which I suppose might be called evidence, who knows.

But as I said above, I’ve no interest in listing for you the many many times that 815 has engaged in excellent strategery involving the international scene, and I’m confident they will continue, whether effective or no. Not sure what you mean by “reasoned discussion” — I’m not really interested in any sort of “discussion” Kevin, other than what we’re having right now. Seems reasoned, seems like a discussion — but I’m not at all interested in attempting to convince progressives of anything at all. So if you’re not convinced of the truth of it, than it’s not all that important to me.

Good to see that Henderson was cut off at the pass over in Lake Malawi. A nice battle victory, but there are no doubt more being worked on even as we speak, so should be interesting to observe that little front in the next year.

27. Kevin Montgomery says:

Sarah (#26),
This isn’t necessarily about convincing anyone. You say that your opinion is based on “excellent observation.” Okay, I can understand that, but what particularly do you cite as a basis for this belief? I can just as easily say that I look at the same thing and don’t see what you’re seeing. What are some of the instances of this “strategery”? I’m not saying this because I’m a “reappraiser” trying to stir up trouble and supposedly destroy the church so that Satan can have free reign on earth. I’d ask for the same kind of evidence from progressives describing a vast right-wing conspiracy.

28. Irenaeus says:

Bp. Mwamba’s book certainly has a creative title: “Dancing Sermons”:

29. Sarah1 says:

RE: “what particularly do you cite as a basis for this belief? . . . What are some of the instances of this “strategery”?”

Already answered above. Not interested.

RE: “I’d ask for the same kind of evidence from progressives describing a vast right-wing conspiracy.”

I wouldn’t. Not interested. ; > )
