Dear All:
Peace in Jesus.
The Rt Rev Dr Benjamin Argak Kwashi, DD, Dmin, OON, has asked me to share with you that the church fathers meeting today have elected him to serve as Archbishop of the Province of Jos, Church of Nigeria.
In Christ,
The Rev Canon Dr Leslie DG Martin
American Chaplain to the Archbishop-elect of Jos
Good news! For this God has preserved this man’s life! May Bishop Kwashi be continually guarded by God’s attending angels. Axios! He is worthy indeed.
Wonderful choice! If only all of our dioceses here were led by such a Godly man!
I am familiar with Ben and have very high regard for this man of God. And Alice is so right about his life being preserved! 🙂 What I don’t understand is what this appointment is? Can someone explain what the significance is of him being made Archbishop? Was there an Archbishop before? Has Jos always been a Province? Sorry these are such basic questions….
For anyone else who is curious to know:

The Venerable AkinTunde Popoola, Director of Communication for the Church of Nigeria, reports also that 4 suffragan bishops were elected for CANA at the Septemeber 12 Synod. He further explains, “In the Church of Nigeria (Anglican Communion) an ecclesiastical province is made up of at least seven dioceses. There are presently ten such provinces each headed by a Provincial Archbishop.”
