It wasn’t my intention to further divide Anglicans when I wrote about the historic importance of little St. Stephen’s Church, founded in 1862 on Vancouver Island.
But claims to local bragging rights as the oldest Anglican Church in British Columbia have been coming in following St. Stephen’s assertion that it’s the oldest in continuous use.
I was baptized at St. John’s and they always claimed to be the oldest. I think at this point the celebation should be that they can still exist.
LOL, Martin (#1). The article is an interesting stroll down memory lane. But with all these various historic congregations claiming to be the oldest Anglican church in the area, you have to wonder, what have they done for Christ and the kingdom lately?
