I feel sorry for the two Republican congressman who, swimming against the tide, are considered likely to lose their seats to Democrats. I understand the dynamics in La2, with Cao having had the good luck to have run two years ago against the breathtakingly unrepentant William “Icebox” Jefferson. Cao is a bright man, and I’m sure had no illusions about the uphill battle he would face in keeping that seat.
