A slate of four nominees for 11th Bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of Alabama was released today by the Standing Committee of the diocese.
The nominees are: the Rev. Kenneth L. Chumbley, Rector, Christ Episcopal Church in Springfield, MO; the Rev. Clare Fischer-Davies, Rector, St. Martin’s Episcopal Church in Providence, RI; the Rt. Rev. John McKee Sloan, Bishop Suffragan, Episcopal Diocese of Alabama; and the Rev. William C. Treadwell, III, Rector, St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Waco, TX.
Shortlists always seem to include at least one bearded nominee. This one is no different. Is there an Episcopal law somewhere about this?
I just read their bios and responses to questions. These are all 4 good candidates.
I find them all very uninspiring, basically unqualified, liberals. Sloan is on the Standing Commision for Liturgy and Music, for goodness sake. And the Committee didn’t even bother to put the usual token (bound to lose on the first ballot) orthodox priest on the list. I’m sure they are all very nice people, but they ceratinly won’t do anything to buck, much less attempt to stop, the juggernaut of revisionism in TEC. They are all candidates who will fit right in with the current HoB.
Two of them are quite raving loony liberals and the other two are just liberal.
Nice “balance” there.
Sarah, is that sort of like the balance in the Diocese of South Carolina?
