Given the public controversy, many people are wondering how Christians should think about his claims.
First, Christ specifically admonished his disciples not to claim such knowledge….[Also] Christians are indeed to be looking for Christ to return and seeking to be found faithful when Christ comes. We are not to draw a line in history and set a date, but we are to be about the Father’s business, sharing the Gospel and living faithful Christian lives. We are not to sit on rooftops like the Millerites, waiting for Christ’s return. We are to be busy doing what Christ has commanded us to do.
In Hebrews 9:28, we are taught that Christ will come a second time “to save those who are eagerly waiting for him.” That is the faithful Christian response to the New Testament teachings about Christ’s coming.
That’s a good Baptist perspective.
A false prophet.
If a prophet should speak in the name of the LORD, and if the prophecy does not come true, this is a prophecy that the LORD has not spoken. The prophet has spoken with impiety. You will not fear him (Deut 18:22).
Lots of pseudo-prophets will be raised up, and will deceive many (Matt 24:11). Indeed, pseudo-messiahs and pseudo-prophets will be raised up, and work great miracles and omens, in order to deceive (if possible) even the elect (Matt 24:24).
In greed [the false teachers] will do business with you with false words…(2 Peter 2:3).
This guy and his inner circle have gathered up millions of dollars in this campaign. God will get him (raising another aspect of eschatology), but between now and then, he and his group warrant a civil fraud investigation.

It’s a good all-around Christian perspective, actually.
I am positive we will all see how misunderstood that “Christian”/ “Baptist” perspective is, actually.
Thanks for pointing that out, Milton. I now have even more respect for baptists.
The words of scripture stand as a witness against fools like Camping:
[blockquote] “But concerning that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, nor the Son, but the Father only.†[/blockquote]
I agree that onlhy the Father knows when the dread Day of Judgment arrives, but I have heard that the Book of Daniel does correctly predict in symbolic language the time when Messiah came to the Israelites.
