They sat in plastic chairs amid the sawdust and unfinished floorboards, chipped paint and bare plaster. All were in their Sunday best, about 200 people listening to the first prayer said in the new home of St. George’s Anglican Church.
“Drive from this place those demons that have possessed its inhabitants,” boomed the voice of the Rev. Don Armstrong. “Restore this place to its former sanctity and purpose.”
There was a bit of irony to Armstrong’s prayer, a double-meaning to both building and man.
God bless them!
This story puts lie to Schori’s comments in (CEN) America tries to Don the victim’s mantle in church wars.
Read the comments below the story and you get a real sense of what has gone on in Colorado Springs and how it is the Episcopalians who are the aggressors making charges against Armstrong. Tie that in with his work with ACI, add in the gay comments and the whole story begins to reveal who is the victim and what life in TEC is like for conservatives.
Schori is the demon that should be chased off in the name of Jesus!
I wouldn’t put it past Schori and Company to try to retake the property……not that she’d have much chance of succeeding. Do you remember her comments about not letting any Anglican competition exist within the so-called territorial bounds of TEC? I do!
God bless Father Armstrong and the people of St George’s Parish!
Actually, to give the “devil” her due, I remember the comment being that TEC would not sell any church building to an Anglican congregation. She has nothing to say or do about ACNA or any other Anglican congregation’s existence within the bounds of Mordor.
God bless them and give them grace to be his ministers in Colorado Springs. I do not know Fr Armstrong, but I certainly hope that he has learned from his experience and that his leadership and financial dealings will be transparent and conform to the highest standards.
The once great TEC presence in Colorado Springs has ended. In 2005 there were 7 TEC churches with 4,600 Members and in 2009 there were 5 TEC churches with 2,240 Members. Statmann
How many are there now?
3. Unless the ACNA applies for or is accepted for membership in the Anglican Communion.

Ah, the success of the New Agenda, uh, gospel.
Armstrong’s church is still the largest ‘Anglican” presence in the Springs. His church was the 13th largest in TEC before O’Neill falsely accused him, but even now his attendance on Sundays is near 400 from what I have heard.
RE: “. . . before O’Neill falsely accused him . . . ”
Because nothing says “false accusation” like a no-contest plea to one count of misdemeanor theft of funds.
If you were he would you risk going to trial on 20 felony counts for five weeks before a baby splitting jury of knuckle headed bloggers still living in their mother’s basements, or take a misdemeanor plea and get on with your life? One risks jail time and the other comes with a little community service that is good for the soul. O’Neill spent $3,000,000 coming after Armstrong according to his own attorney’s testimony…do you think they could have made some sort of trumped up case? Nevertheless, three forensic audits later the DA says that his case is so weak he was willing to reduce 20 felonies to a single misdemeanor…I would take the deal, the double jeopardy and run if I were Armstrong…which is what he seems to have done.
Slightly edited by elf. Please remember the thread is about the church, not the individual.
Why did they let bloggers who had expressed views on the subject on the jury, No. 11? Seems highly irregular. If I were a defense attorney, I wouldn’t have let them near it.
RE: “If you were he would you risk . . . ”
Oh — I think I’ll let “Ezekiel” answer that question.
Heh — do you think he knows just how similar he sounds to all the other “Ezekiels” out there?
