On Vacation so Throttling the Blogging Way Back

I know you understand. Posts will be catch as catch can. I am seriously considering one open thread a day on an edifying subject so if you have suggestions for such threads please post in the comments below. Many thanks–KSH.

    Kendall, I don’t know about an edifying subject, but perhaps the fact that you yourself are on vacation is itself a witness. We all feel under pressure to do more. We live with a sense of guilt that we do not achieve more. Yet all we do in Christian ministry is provisional, that is to say, it is undertaken in the faith that we work with Christ the true pastor, who alone knows what is valuable and what is not, what will endure and what will pass. A time of rest, refreshment and relaxation reminds us that it does not all depend on us. Time away gives us perspective, gives our souls space so that God (and neighbour) are not crowded out. So may God bless you and your family at this time. On this site you have created a kind of community – may all of us find this summer the time and space in which we can be renewed.

    Kendall: you might take a cue from Steve Wood and ask “Why I am or Why I am not a charismatic?”

    Isaiah 40:27-31 (New International Version 1984)

    27 Why do you say, O Jacob,
    and complain, O Israel,
    “My way is hidden from the LORD;
    my cause is disregarded by my God”?
    28 Do you not know?
    Have you not heard?
    The LORD is the everlasting God,
    the Creator of the ends of the earth.
    He will not grow tired or weary,
    and his understanding no one can fathom.
    29 He gives strength to the weary
    and increases the power of the weak.
    30 Even youths grow tired and weary,
    and young men stumble and fall;
    31 but those who hope in the LORD
    will renew their strength.
    They will soar on wings like eagles;
    they will run and not grow weary,
    they will walk and not be faint.

    Have a restorative vacation Canon Harmon and come back renewed and refreshed.
