If elected, the Rev. Tracey Lind of Cleveland would have been only the second openly gay U.S. bishop and the first women ever elected to head the Chicago Diocese.
Episcopal church observers said the results weren’t a referendum on the issue for the diocese.
“The people in Chicago wanted the person who could function well in a large, diverse urban diocese,” said the Rev. Kendall Harmon, a church strategist from South Carolina. “Jeffrey Lee came off as the best person.”
Update: An AP article is here.
Thank you, Kendall!

What the people of Chicago wanted was certainly not what they needed. They may have gotten what they wanted, but they sure did NOT get what they needed, neither are they listening to and obeying what the Word of the Lord commands.
The Diocese of Chicago, and indeed all the dioceses in all the provinces of the Anglican Communion need bishops who hold the Word of God with respect and honor, and not those who are worshipping at the altar of Left-wing political expediency and Gay-agenda-driven pseudo-ministry.
I would have been more pleased had Canon Harmon made this point clearer to the AP news-wire people than he did with the reported statement. I think the time has come for the orthodox to use less diplomatic language and more clarity in expressing our dismay at what is going on in our church. This is not necessarily about the Diocese of Chicago: it is about TEc, the Anglican Communion, and the Historic Christian Faith.
One of the reasons why the Revisionists are beating us silly at every turn is their relentlessness in expressing their views, positions, and their disagreement with what we the orthodox do, say, and believe. We need to be doing no less for our own side.
This is not a criticism of the Canon, but a reminder to fellow orthodox faithful. We need not mince words when expressing our disagreement with the unchristian choices and the positions the Revisionists are making and taking.
