French President-elect Francois Hollande is to start work on forming a new government, after declaring to his supporters that his victory gave hope there would be an end to austerity.
Mr Hollande has vowed to rework a deal on government debt in eurozone member countries to focus on promoting growth.
All I can think is “here comes the Zombie economy.” Austerity measures are put in place to save an economy after much of it has been wiped out by financial plague. Raising the dead economy by throwing $$$ at it to give a false impression of a healthy economy is foolish. The risen dead will eat the living and continue to rot.
But maybe I just don’t have a good grasp of the thing.
“rework a deal onsomebody else’s government debt in eurozone member countries.” I know how to translate that. “Borrow a whole lot more of someone else’s wealth, and spend it as fast as we can, in the false hope that will save our economy, at least until this generation dies.”
Good luck with that.
The French have chosen to be led by the same people who created the problem in the first place. As French presidents go, I think Sarkozy was the best I can recall. How anyone could reform the French economy and break the stranglehold of the unions, is beyond me. At least Sarkozy tried.
