I won’t comment on the substance of the story, but the Supreme Court did not declare Proposition 8 unconstitutional. They declared private citizens didn’t have standing to bring the case to the Federal Courts. Not that ENS has ever been renowned for their journalistic ability or concern for facts.
So predictable. “Hey, if you can’t beat ’em, join ’em” seems to have been the initial rationale of some TEC leaders. But it must be recognized that many others sincerely believe that “marriage equality” is the civil rights issue of our time and that supporting that cause is part of the prophetic vocation of church leaders. They are totally deluded and wrong, but many are sincere.
