Christ Church Anglican, formerly Christ Church Midland, welcomed new leadership in August with a new rector and a new music minister.
The Rev. Henry Pendergrass conducted his first service Aug. 11. He came from Anglican Church of the Resurrection in Flower Mound and has been a priest for nearly 23 years.
His passion for priesthood was ignited at the tender age of 8, Pendergrass said. He observed his priest “standing at the altar representing Christ to the people” on Sunday morning and “filling the Coke machine and mopping the floor of the parish hall” Sunday evening.
“There was something that seemed so true about that ”” this idea of ”˜servant leadership,’” Pendergrass said. “It seemed to make more sense to me than anything.”
