Via Email from the Diocese of Fort Worth:
We have had the following message today from a member of our legal team:
“The U.S. Supreme Court has requested a response from the Diocese to TEC’s petition for writ of certiorari, filed on June 19. This is an unfortunate development due to the time and money it will take to respond. It does however give us a chance to set the record straight about the case, and I am still convinced that the odds are very small that the Court will want to review the case after reading our response.
“The response is due August 27th. After that TEC parties will have 14 days to reply.”
Just forward them all of the rulings from Illinois.
And don’t forget the ruling from the SC Supreme Court which also made it clear that TEC is not a hierarchal church.
Blessings and skills for the creation for the response.
The point is that Ortbal’s ruling is a classic and extremely well-researched bit of work, and the Appeals Court upheld it unanimously.
Yes it is, and I think the SC Supreme Court is the only state supreme court also fits in that category as well. Judge Orbtal’s ruling can be easily dismissed as the musing of one misled trial judge but how does one counter a state Supreme Court ruling that was equally well-researched and well-stated not as the opinion of one judge but several supreme court justices? I say present the SCOTUS with all the evidence they can garner against TEC’s foolishness. The stronger Fort Worth’s evidence, the less likely SCOTUS will give TEc what they want.
