(ACNS) Alyson Barnett-Cowan to act as Interim Anglican Secretary General

The Rt Revd James Tengatenga and Mrs Elizabeth Paver, Chair and Vice-Chair of the Standing Committee, Anglican Communion, have appointed the Revd Canon Dr Alyson Barnett-Cowan as Interim Secretary General.

Canon Barnett-Cowan, who will retire at the end of January as Director for Unity Faith and Order, has agreed to be a half-time consultant for the position until the position of Secretary General has been filled. She will be based at her home in Canada but will work at the Anglican Communion Office for some days each month.

“The Standing Committee meets at the end of November to review the job description for the Secretary General of the Anglican Communion and to set the appointment process in motion.”

Given that the “standing committee” is virtually a wholly owned subsidiary of 815, I’m thinking about putting $5 down in Vegas that KJS is the next secretary general.

So….a priest of the TEC litigation puppet-on-a-string, Anglican Church of Canada, which most of the Anglican Communion is out of communion with, is appointed Acting Interim General Secretary for the Anglican Consultative Council and Anglican Communion Office?

It is to be expected from TEC puppet-on-a-string ex-bishop Tengatenga who should have resigned long ago, but Elizabeth Paver should really have known better. But presumably she was encouraged to do so by the TEC puppet-on-a-string Archbishop of Canterbury.

I am sure that will encourage everyone to come to the ACC meeting in Africa Welby has cooked up with the clueless in some provinces.

Oh, and don’t forget to pay your dues to the ACO. The Acting Interim General Secretary will have lots of expenditure to undertake for her puppet-masters – and TEC and Trinity Wall Street Simony Departments have a lot of costs in Africa so they would all appreciate your help.

The rustle you hear is a gentle rolling of the eyes and an exasperated sigh from around the Communion. Kearon goes, Barnett-Cowan arrives… whatever.
