  1. David Keller says:

This article is a parody of itself. TEC is going to H__l in a hand basket and they are issuing a letter on racism and getting ready to quit being religious and start being legislative. And they can’t figure out what the problem is.

  2. Terry Tee says:

I am a bit baffled by the reference to impairment. Is that the new word for being disabled, formerly handicapped?

  3. Jeff Walton says:

Part of the problem here is that TEC has an outsized, outdated view of its influence. There was a time, long since passed, when Episcopal Church bishops had an influential voice in the public space. Dreaming of this past, these people now offer guidance on nearly everything.

#2, Fr. Tee, it appears to be about alcohol and drug abuse, based on the several paragraphs following. This is perhaps their response to Heather Cook’s murder charge. They’ve appointed a commission. Hooray! All will be well!

They also, according to this, have a lingering problem with pervasive racism in their churches. I wonder if the people in the pews on Sundays know this.

  5. David Keller says:

#4, That was my point. Racism is bad. But TEC, with is numerous problems and faults, is probably the most non-racist institution in America, maybe in the world. It wouldbe nice if the bishops would address some probelm that they actually have.

  6. Katherine says:

Yes, I know, David Keller. I was being sarcastic. They can blather on about this because they know they don’t really have to do anything.
