Life is stranger than fiction.
Not really a new mistake. I distinctly remember that Chicago’s
classical music station, WFMT, had made the same erroneous
announcement on that day in 1978 when John Paul II was elected
pontiff. A bit later, and rather sheepishly, WFMT announced in
response to a deluge of phone calls, that the new pope was indeed
a Catholic, much to the amazement of Chicago’s Catholics.
