Lambeth Conference will help bishops strengthen partnerships, Jefferts Schori tells media

The 2008 Lambeth Conference is primarily an opportunity for bishops to get to know one another and to strengthen partnerships, Presiding Bishop Katharine Jefferts Schori told media gathered for a May 20 news briefing at the Episcopal Church Center in New York City.

Acknowledging that partnerships throughout the Communion have grown significantly in recent years, Jefferts Schori said her hopes for Lambeth and the Anglican Communion are “that we encounter each other as human beings working in vastly different contexts around the globe and that we build relationships.”

Archbishop of Canterbury Rowan Williams has invited more than 800 bishops to attend the July 16-August 3 conference on the campus of the University of Kent in southeast England, and more than three quarters have accepted, planners have said.

  1. Irenaeus says:

What kind of partnerships does she really have in mind?

  2. Br_er Rabbit says:

Well, Irenaeus, she told concerned “remain-ers” in Texas, “Well, have you seen what we’re doing in San Joaquin?” I suggest her answer to your question should be, “Well, have you seen what we’re doing with the bishop of Colorado and the bishop of Jerusalem?”

Partnership: We supply the money and you toe the line.

Maybe she has in mind that all the closeted homosexual bishops in TEO will come out after Lambeth.

ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha Oh sachori- you really are very blind to your failings. Do you really think that you can act as you do and then make freinds with those you have hurt so very badly?

Not without a little repentence and humilty I fear- and the ability to be honest. You see having signed the moratorium with fingers crossed last time- it is doubtful many will trust you this time.

    It is not rocket science

  5. Larry Morse says:

You are criticizing Schori when present evidence shows that she is playing a winning hand. She and her coven hold all the high cards.
Look at the previous blog entries that show where the momentum is culturally. Does California tell you nothing, or Australia?

We are losing crucial battles, and one reason is the ABC’s and the Anglicans’ inability to make real decisions, reach real judgments. We are watching cowards play at warfare with wooden rifles while the enemy is firing live rounds. This battle isn’t just about the homosexualizing of whole societies, a grave enough evil in itself, it is about the entire social body destroying its own immune system.

Once again, see David Handy’s prescription for what our fut ure course should be. Larry

With this kind of spin on what Lambeth will be, can anyone fail to understand why some GS bishops/arch-bishops cannot in conscience spend time and money to meet with Katherine Schori, et. al.?

  7. A Floridian says:

Why would anyone sane want to partner with KJS, TEC, ACoC or the ABC, et al?

The fact that Katherin Jefferts Shori has been invited to Lambeth and is planning to go, and is rather presumptiously acting as a spokesperson for the Lambeth meeting and the fact that she was glad-handed around the last Primates meeting by the ABC, combined with the continued overt non-compliance of TEC, is glaring evidence that there is no intention to enforce Windsor, DES, nor any agreement amongst the Anglican Primates.

Presumably, KJS didn’t receive one of the ABCs infamous never-sent letters that morphed into a private phone call.

Without enforcement of laws and agreements, the security and peace of a group or a society is lost.
This is the current state of affairs in the Anglican Communion.

Anglican documents, signatures of bishops, presiding bishops and Archbishops are completely valueless, even as historical documents, since they have no proven efficacy or power to change the course of anything that occurs after they are produced.

At least those who said they could not find any moral justification to go to Lambeth 2008 without the repentance of TEC et al, meant what they wrote and intend to back their words with action.

They have formed CANA, Common Cause Partnership, etc. to protect the faithful from their persecutors and expose and oppose their heresies.

In the case of whether to attend or not to attend Lambeth, those orthodox who are planning to go are not going as mere attendees, but as trumpets of warning and truth.

KJS and her compatriots have partnered with the devil, the rebellious and the lawless.

  8. Rev. Patti Hale says:

Interesting that she emphasizes the word ‘relationships’. It’s hard to believe her sincerity when the actions of TEC have been all about breaking relationships across the communion for our ‘prophetic’ actions. At the very minimum she should be honest about this. TEC wants desperately to remain in ‘relationship’ to the Anglican Communion but ONLY on our terms and no one else’s. Remember, the litigation going on everywhere is in part about asserting that there will be no other kid on this block to whom the rest of the Anglican world can be in ‘relationship’.

I’ve gotta say it……I laughed so hard that my abs ached! I need to keep a box of Kleenex on my desk to wipe away the tears! I actually roared with laughter, and my wife wondered if I had gone bonkers!
