Episcopal Presiding Bishop Katharine Jefferts Schori this week said she does not expect up-or-down votes on the role of gays and lesbians in the church at a meeting of global Anglican leaders in England this summer.
The Lambeth Conference, a once-a-decade gathering of bishops from the 38 provinces of the worldwide Anglican Communion, will instead be an opportunity for bishops to work out differences in closed-door discussion groups, according to organizers.
”I don’t expect legislation at Lambeth. That’s not why we’re going,” Jefferts Schori said. ”It’s a global conversation. . . . It’s not going to make a final decision about anything.”
That’s not why we’re going. Right. This is not the sort of thing you make a decision about, it’s the sort of thing you just *do*. In time people get used to it. That is Anglican Theology in a nutshell. And nuts put up with it with surprising patience.
Actually I wonder why there was talk of a “final decision”. The ABC has already indicated that Lambeth 1.10 represents the mind of communion, and that there is no desire to revisit it. It represents therefore the final decision.
I take it that this is what KJS is meaning — yeah right!!!!!!!!
And it means that the AC as a body will do absolutely nothing about TEC. Oh, I forgot the covenant is coming. But wait its sponsors say it will not do anything to address the current heresy and apostacy in TEC. So this means that the AC as a body will do absolutly nothing about TEC.
I have never seen the like of it. How can Schori walk through the mess she has helped to created scatheless? She will come away from Lambeth untouched – and still talking the usual banalities. The Lambeth folks have the power and the opportunity to nail her to the wall; while in reality VGR will be there pointing out to all who will listen that he has been nailed to the cross. This is astounding. LM
The facts:
– TEC, the ACoCanada and other Anglican Provinces in rebellion have consistently violated any agreement with the AC re the sexual standards of Christian behavior and has refused to repent of its violations of those agreements.
– The ABC has refused to separate the violators or to protect the orthodox, and has confounded any means to do so.
– As PB of unrepentant TEC, KJS was welcomed, glad-handled around by the ABC himself at a primates meeting.
– KJS are invited to Lambeth, presumes to speak for Lambeth and plans to attend the Lambeth conference.
– VGRs consecrators, the Canadian bishops and others involved in promoting the sinful and unscriptural homosex agenda are in open violation of agreed standards for the AC, but are invitees in good standing to Lambeth.
Larry, #4 – KJS et al, will not escape scatheless… There are always consequences to sin…separation and death, loss of the Holy Spirit’s Light, Life and Truth, both on earth or later in eternity.
These agendites might find a congruent group or movement, but they are will not attempt to remove God the Father from His throne, Jesus from Lordship, nor fool nor sin against the Holy Spirit without harm or consequence. Such attempts are and always will be futile.
Jesus is Lord whether they wish it or not. Scripture is our authority. Sin is a fact and requires confession (agreement with God) and repentance (turn away, cease doing it) – no matter what anyone wants, feels or believes…even if they spin around with their eyes shut, fingers crossed, on one foot, while saying, ‘I’m right’ three times wearing purple shirts and golden mitres. Even if they make a world book tour and all the world is convinced homosex sexuality is dandy and the vote at TEC GC 2009 is unanimous in favor of ‘blessing’ homosex sexual relations.
The “new thang” Lambeth meshes well with the “new thang” TEO. Doesn’t it? How’d that happen so nicely?
How about this: “GAFCON affects Lambeth?” What would Schori say to THAT possibility?
