Interesting, is it not, that the same end of the political spectrum wants to get rid of both?

When freedom to trade is taken away, hell is indeed inescapable.

    Old story:
A Russian rabbi was walking along muttering his Hebrew prayers under his breath when a Soviet soldier stopped him.

“Old man, why do you waste your breath on a dead language? What’s the purpose?”

“The purpose”, the man replied, “is that so when I get to heaven, I’ll be able to converse with Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, and even the Lord himself!”

“Huh!” said the soldier, “but what if you don’t go to heaven? What if you end up in hell?”

“In that case”, the old man said, “I already know Russian!”

At least W.B. knows that Christianity devoid of traditional doctrine is empty! Maybe he should teach at an Episcopal seminary…

How is it that even lay people know what many of the ordained leaders of the Church can’t seem to understand?

What an outstanding group of messages are here! Often it is the simple that confounds the foolish.

As we bear the image of God, so it is true, for both God and us, that our individual actions make a difference both temporally and eternally.

And THAT is why grace is indespensible.

Many years ago a dear friend gave us a beautiful painting of “Ghoulies and Ghosties and Long Legity Beasties and Things That Go Bump in the Night,” from an ancient church litany. The fantastic artist was Nancy Wilds. It has hung over our bed for over forty years.

If I can find her, I want to commission a similar painting using Warren Buffet’s “Capitalism without failure is like Christianity without hell.” to send to KJS to hang above her bed. Better yet, a really big one to hang on the wall in her 815 office.
