Sydney Morning Herald: Archbishop Jensen jets off for protest talks

Dr Jensen was unamused when last week the bishop at the centre of the global battle over homosexuality entered into a civil union with his long-time partner.

It was just another moment, Dr Jensen said, when the proponents of “radical theology” had crossed boundaries. “Well, that’s all right. The rest of us must call them back and get on with our business of defending and promoting the Gospel of Jesus.”

why is it those of us who wish to continue with the faith as handed down are always referred to as the “dissidents”?

Mike L, to me it is a badge of honor when secular agenda based Episcopalians use it while referring to me. I am very much a dissident when I see my Church headed down the path of destruction and I know why.
“The LORD is longsuffering and abundant in mercy, forgiving iniquity and transgression; but He by no means clears the guilty, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children to the third and fourth generation.” Numbers 14:18.

Generally, dissidents are the ones who challenge long established doctrine. However, in this case, reasserters are challenging the established Anglican Communion presence in North America. So you become dissidents by challenging the institution itself. Unless the institution is changed, then your status remains dissidents. But, hey, Jesus was a dissident, so your in good commpany 🙂

Jensen is also a radical Calvinist “dissident”.
