Interesting discussion (though it’s actually a curtain-raiser to Monday’s debate). One lay delegate urged his colleagues to take note of the North American situation; without proper pastoral provision, primatial intervention could be just around the corner. Several other speakers acknowledged that with all the other clouds on the horizon, pressing forward could well be a bridge too far.
Oh, and for light relief, it would be hard to beat the lawyer who commented that everyone else at Synod wants to sit next to him as the legislative option comes under increasing scrutiny. What, he asked, is wrong with lawyer jokes? Lawyers don’t think they’re funny and nobody else thinks they’re jokes!

Take note that you can’t rewind the audio. You can pause and restart but try and rewind and you’ll end up back at the beginning.
It was a good debate to listen to – high quality contributions as usual.
