Forward in Faith–General Synod vote – further reaction

The consistent behaviour of the General Synod compels Forward in Faith and the Catholic Group in General Synod to recognise that, without intervention by the House of Bishops, there is little prospect of gaining a synodical majority which would provide a structural solution that would meet the needs of those who, out of obedience to scripture and tradition, are unable in conscience to receive the ordination of women to the episcopate. We will in the coming days continue to explore all possible avenues which might secure our corporate ecclesial future and look to our bishops to facilitate this.

Where they lead – I will go.

  2. COLUMCIL says:

    And they (we) will go.

  3. Jody+ says:

So what do you suppose the odds are for an actual Anglican Rite with married priests? Or will this be a beefed up version of the Pastoral Provision establishing an Anglican Use in England? Or perhaps the meetings with Rome will come to naught.

    Intersting times.

indeed- we try for those and if not walk individually. Because- regardless of how much some pretend otherwise- AngloCatholocism died yesterday.

    Replying to Jody+ and rugbyplayingpriest….

Jody+, I’m not sure what purpose an “Anglican rite” would have over here. I don’t envisage a great deal of enthusiasm for a reversion to the BCP or BCW by all those “spikes” using the Roman rite at present.

Rugbyplayingpriest, I don’t think it’s just Anglo-Catholicism which has died. I think the C of E, as I used to know it, died when women were ordained priest. Let me illustrate what I mean by looking at one of the retired priests among the signatories of the open letter. Fr C, who was my parish priest forty years ago, now helps out in an Anglo-Catholic “shrine” in the Potteries, with all the bells and smells you could wish for, BUT much of his stipendiary ministry was spent outside the A-C “comfort zone” trying to introduce the faith to liturgically uninspiring (or downright depressing) parishes. That can no longer happen. we have efefctively been ghettoised, with priests no longer venturing into parishes of different churchmanship.

The mosaic religion pansexual agendites may have stolen the Church of England, the ACoC and the Episcopal Church, and they may try to change, bend and pervert Christianity to their own ends, make the priestly office a right, not a calling, and doctrine a matter of popular vote. They may steal buildings, treasures of silver, gold, endowments, but they will not ever steal the true Faith of Jesus Christ or the healing, delivering, power of His Gospel and His Holy Word.

They may counterfeit or imitate or appropriate and try to change His Name, His Word, and His Gospel message, but they cannot manipulate the Lord God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
