Lambeth is Focus of September Bishops’ Meeting

The House of Bishops will meet in special session Sept. 17-19 in Salt Lake City, Utah, with the Lambeth Conference being the primary topic on the agenda.

Normally during a Lambeth Conference year there is no fall meeting of the House of Bishops, said Neva Rae Fox, program officer for public affairs at the Episcopal Church Center. But at their March meeting, the bishops felt it was important to meet to debrief after the conference.

Four sessions devoted to Lambeth are on the preliminary agenda, according to Ms. Fox….

Gee, I thought the focus of the September meeting of the HoB was deposing +Duncan. Who knew?

  2. Dee in Iowa says:

Oh you of little faith…….it will be the focus, believe me….

  3. Jeffersonian says:

The bishops already know that Lambeth was a wonderful opportunity to experience the wonderful diversity of the Anglican Communion and that they will prayerfully study the request for moratoria on SSBs and sodomite clergy before deciding they are entirely optional, whereas the boundary-crossing moratorium will be found to be the absolute hub of Scripture.

Of course the defenestration of +Duncan is the centerpiece of the HoB meeting. Where has the revolutionary Left ever assumed power without purges and show trials?

  4. Cennydd says:

Doesn’t all of this look familiar? It’s nothing less than the history of all repressive regimes.

  5. Daniel says:

The focus will be Lambeth and how to ensure that the rest of the Anglican Communion views TEC as a united church, with no significant problems. To bring this about, they will have to regrettably and reluctantly depose those who are causing all the divisiveness and dissension; i.e., +Duncan, et. al. – Q.E.D.

If I were an orthodox/Windsor bishop planning on staying in TEC, I would make sure I vet everything I do, say or write through 815 to avoid a similar fate. In the immortal words of Satchell Paige, “Don’t look back. Something might be gaining on you.”

  6. A Floridian says:

Who cares what the ungodly liars and political agendities of the HoB think or do? They have become detached from and irrelevant to the Kingdom of God, because they are not subject to His Word or His will.
The real Christian action is elsewhere (check out Ackron OHio on Baby Blue and Transfigurations.)

As of 11 AM EST on August 23rd ENS STILL hasn’t noted Dio. of VA./TEC/Beer’s defeat in Virginia court. Lots of bubble gum stories to paint neat pictures. The harsh realities had better come up at the bishops’ meeting. They have a lot at stake but I just don’t believe that there is the wisdom, the will, or the bone to straighten the revisionist PB and her acolytes out. It’s going to take the loss of three more dioceses and millions more in lost legal expenses before somebody stares a hole through Schori.

  8. David Wilson says:

I wonder if the meeting format will be to break up into yaba-daba-do groups?

  9. the snarkster says:

Great meeting everybody. See you next time. We will now stand adjourned.
Oh by the way, everyone in favor of deposing +Duncan please signify by waving goodbye on the way out.
    Shalom…..

This is the real meeting, the one where the razor meets the wrist. The crisis has finally come that TEC has sought with such success to avoid, and now it is unavoidable, although we, listening in, may never know what really happened. There is no good solution for them, although we may see them continue to wiggle and slither in more than one direction at once. The problem isn’t Lambeth, it’s Gafcon, which Lambeth gave a strange and powerful validity to. Like so many fanatics and True Believers, they can never acknowledge the truth until they are whipped with their own rod. The virginia case will be salt in the wounds therefrom.

I look forward to the results of this meeting with real interest. I said earlier that at Lambeth the gloves were finally off, and we shall see who comes to blows now. My hunch is that there will be sensible – if liberal – bishops who will see the lightening that these storm clouds will surely bring. LM

How can you reflect on nothing? I guess they will fill in the blanks and decide what Lamberth did.

    I think it’s called ‘Zen’.

  13. dwstroudmd+ says:

No doubt they need to re-enforce the programming for any bishop who actually “heard” what the other bishops around the world against “THE PROGRAM” and has second thoughts. That and have VGR emote over his lack of invitation to and their failure to support him and “THE PROGRAM” (if he gets past the me part). You know, a whine extravaganzas and brainwash to clear the air of reality.

  14. Larry Morse says:

I still think you’re all wrong. We are going to see some bitter infighting and True Believers and Realists finally come to blows. T hat is, we may never hear the truth, but circumstances have changed, and there re some realists who gasp the consequences. Discovering the reality of GAFCON and its offsrping is like diving into your pool only to discover it’s empty. Larry
