    Vote is in:

    Clergy Yes-42 No-14 total of 55
    Laity Yes-54 No-12 total of 66
Simple majority required in each house.
Resolution RM1 to leave TEC passes.

    Bob Hudson (#4),

There was a slight typo in your figures. Yes, there were 55 clergy votes cast, with 41 (not 42) voting FOR leaving TEC, 14 against, for roughly a 3/4 majority.

On the follow up resolution to amend the diocesan constitution to realign Quincy with the Province of the Souther Cone the majorities were even higher. This time only 50 clergy votes were cast, and it passed by a whopping 46 to 4 margin (92%). And in the lay order, where 63 votes were cast, it passed by 55 to 8, or an overwhelming 87%. As a constitutional amendment it required a 2/3 majority in both orders, but obviously it cleared that hurdle easily.

    “Courage breeds courage.”

Way to go, Quincy! It may be a small diocese (just 24 congregations, IIRC), but it’s a brave one.
