NOMINATING COMMITTEE FOR THE ELECTION OF A BISHOP SUFFRAGAN ….. announces the selection of its slate of candidates to be presented to the September 30th Diocesan Convention. The slate of four priests to be placed in nomination at the electing convention in Birmingham on Sunday, September 30th, 2007 follows:

The Rev. William Marc Burnett, Rector, St. Andrew’s Church, Birmingham, Al.
The Rev. Alicia Schuster-Weltner, Canon for Congregational Development, Diocese of Atlanta, Atlanta, Ga.
The Rev. John McKee Sloan, Rector, St. Thomas Church, Huntsville, Al.
The Rev. Patrick J. Wingo, Rector, St. Thomas Church, Birmingham, Al.

NOMINATIONS BY PETITION are being received by the Standing Committee until the end of July. Nomination forms can be found below and downloaded for use. Any questions regarding Nominations by Petition are directed to the Rev. David Meginniss, President of the Standing Committee.

You are invited to join us in prayer as we prepare for the election.

A PRAYER FOR THE ELECTION OF A SUFFRAGAN BISHOP
IN THE DIOCESE OF ALABAMA

Almighty God, who by Your Son,
Directed the Apostles to feed Your flock;
lead, we pray You, the minds and hearts
of those who shall choose a Bishop Suffragan
for the Diocese of Alabama; provide for us
a Bishop who will faithfully preach God’s
holy Word, administer the sacraments of
the Church and equip Your people for ministry;
through Your Son Jesus Christ, our Lord.

    They are very different.
