Dissident Anglican churches are hammering out the details of a plan to create a North American church body that would be recognized by the global Anglican community and operate with authority parallel to the national Anglican churches in Canada and the United States.
If they’re successful, it could be in place in less than a year.
“There are committees working strenuously at the present time trying to bring this about as soon as possible,” said Bishop Donald Harvey, who oversees the Anglican Network in Canada.
It can’t come soon enough!
I think this writer needs to look at the big picture. The “dissidents” he speaks of are in line with the majority of Anglicans in the world. The official bodies in Canada and the US are the dissidents. They are the ones changinging things and saying that God got it wrong originally and now he/she is doing a new thing. They probably appear to be the mainstream as they have fallen into the pit of moral decay that is attacking the country. Both TEc and ACofC are leading society into a cesspool of moral disfunction. They are the true dissidents.
So right, Drummie. If a group of hijackers take over a plane and chart a new course can the rest of the passengers and crew be called dissidents if they object?
BINGO, Drummie!
Explain to me how the establishment of a new province actually works. Can it not establish itself and then ask the other provinces if it will accept it as a new partner? Does GAFCON have any real authority in such establishment? And if established, what do the various dioceses and parishs to with the new allegiance to non-American Anglican provinces? Simply resign? Must the ABC give such a province his official blessing?
One thing is certain for me. #1 is dead right. Can’t come soon enough. Larry
