If you want the (very full) program here is is in PDF format. Merry Christmas!
I have listened faithfully to this service for more than 30 years, and I look forward to it every year. Yet I also finding myself wondering how many of those attending in the chapel and listening on the radio will consider the service sufficient for observing Christmas and will pass up the celebration where Christ’s presence among us is made sacramentally real. I wait to listen to Lessons and Carols every year, but I long to take His Body and Blood on the night I celebrate His birth. O tidings of comfort and joy!
St. Peter’s had our “Lessons and Carols” earlier this month on the 7th.
A web link is here for anyone who wants to listen to the event. the entire program is just over 51 minutes, but you can listen to it in segments. Links on the same page for the last two years of the services.
PS,
has anyone else noticed that except for the vapid ‘Christmas’ movies on Lifetime and some on Hallmark, there seems to be less and less Christmas themed programming on tv in recent years? I remember that at least VH-1 would devote Christmas Eve’s programming to Christmas music videos. This year — nothing.
Even the radio stations have not been hitting it as hard this year.
Library Jim. Good. Let them leave it alone. Their touch is poison. Since when has the pawing of the media ever done anything except leave its sooty fingerprints on everything it has touched? Let them do news, if they will, and for the rest, let them pander to the lowest common denominator. Christmas doesn’t need them, to live and shine. Larry
Someone asked if a recording of the Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols is available… it is! i regularly record & post broadcasts of this kind on my blog, http://5-against-4.blogspot.com. All recordings are digital & in FLAC format. i posted the complete service online yesterday; also on there is the Advent Carol Service from St John’s College. Enjoy – & Merry Christmas! 🙂

Is there anyplace you could get a recording?
In fact, this is the high point of my church year. Larry
Br. Michael, I don’t know if they release a recording each year, but I purchased the CD below as a Christmas gift this year:
