my sister-in-law’s husband worked for the Canadian Government for years. He was given one month (of his choice) ‘off’ without pay every year. It was routine, and they budgeted for it, even planning their vacations to the States so that they would take his annual leave in conjunction with that month so they had a nice long vacation.

The California governor didn’t have much choice since he has a multi-billion cash shortage that isn’t going away too soon; if ever.

I read the other day that the CA State Comptroller was refusing to honor the furlough. Any update on that?
