Notable and Quotable (II)

I spent eight years at the Episcopal Church Center’s communication office, and I’d say about 60 percent of the time (a conservative estimate!) the intrepid and much-maligned journalists in our office first found out what was going on just two floors above us…through somebody’s blog.

There are 2 truths in this message:
    1. The graphic is good.
    2. If you write it, it will be leaked.

  2. New Reformation Advocate says:

    lou browning (#1),

I think we could probably add a few other lessons from this cynical jibe by Jan Nunley.

    3. “All’s fair in love and war,” and especially in a church civil war.

    4. We shouldn’t assume the other side is nearly as organized and competent as we fear they are.

Unfortunately, poor communication abounds on all sides. And so does the distrust engendered by the bitter strife of our times. But Jan’s mocking tone is far less civil than the ACI complaint.

Lord, have mercy on us all.

    Jan,
    1. You are a journalist; Mark Harris is an executive council member.
    2. Are trying to say that if you leaked an email of the PB and her/his chancellor without their permission that that would be ok with them?

  4. nwlayman says:

Dan Brown can now write a screenplay on how a particular church *really* acts. Joan Crawford could have had a great role.

  5. C. Wingate says:

It’s funny that after all that she admits to the problem of “the executive-branch-by-default that has grown up on a certain piece of real estate in midtown Manhattan” which is what people are especially complaining about. Of course she doesn’t complain about Jim Naughton or any number of liberal bloggers– but then, they are part and parcel of the liberal establishment, so maybe that’s OK.

Awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww, poor Jan. Had to use the blogs instead of having sources. Oh, weelly now!!! But I did like her graphic of the side-splitting laugher! It perfectly portrayed my reading of the official organ of the ECUSA/TEC/GCC/EO-PAC and its “reporting” of the “news” over the years. Good one, Jan!

  7. RalphM says:

Ms. Nunley complains about those critical of TEC’s actions: “…so many members–many in positions of authority or public influence–with no concept of how this church works…”

Perhaps paralleled by insiders who know and embrace how TEC works but have no concept of what His Church should be?

    #5. C. Wingate,
[blockquote]It’s funny that after all that she admits to the problem of “the executive-branch-by-default that has grown up on a certain piece of real estate in midtown Manhattan”[/blockquote]
Is the following quote related to the quote you used?
[blockquote]It’s astounding to me how a Church that requires its priests (and bishops) to complete three years of seminary, and presumably conducts some form of catechetical instruction prior to confirmation as an Episcopalian, can have so many members–many in positions of authority or public influence–with no concept of how this church works…at least in theory.[/blockquote] Is this a reference to KJS?

  9. Betty See says:

Maybe she is disillusioned with “what was going on just two floors above us”.

  10. dwstroudmd+ says:

The really rich irony is that apparently her discovery of what was going on by reading blogs is “good” but anyone else’s use of blogs for the same is “bad” – – – mote, meet beam.
