Archbishop of Canterbury Rowan Williams will make a presentation addressing the world’s economic crisis during a panel discussion webcast live July 8 from the Episcopal Church’s 76th General Convention, scheduled to take place July 8-17 in Anaheim, California.
Presiding Bishop Katharine Jefferts Schori and House of Deputies President Bonnie Anderson will host the event, to be called “Christian Faithfulness in the Global Economic Crisis” at the Anaheim Hilton from 6:15 to 7:30 p.m. PDT (10:30 p.m. EDT).
The great problem with “THE PROBLEM” is that every other problem appears to be a diversion and manipulation. Surely the ABC knows that his appearance in the absence of speaking to THE PROBLEM will only annoy and vex. We can’t “just get on with it” anymore than a household can “get on with it” with domestic violence going on or an active alcoholic in the house.
Yes, #1: the allusion to addiction dynamics is apt! Then, too, it is financially advantageous to subtly reassure, so that the under-informed pew sitters in TEC not be roused to require investigation of or change in the toxic behavior of the PB and those who advise and support her. “NIMBY” rules!
One hopes that +Cantuar gets an eye- and ear-full the the real TEC at GC. It is quite a show. Not that I expect him to respond, of course.
It’s very telling that the ABC will be at TEC and not visit, say, Nigeria or the Southern Cone or ….
KJS believes that this is THE PROBLEM. And the ANSWER is ubuntu. Loss of members and congregations is insignificant when you are right.
Don’t forget to take your umbrella, Archbishop.
PM, is that to keep his head safe from pointy hats?
It was naive for me to think this but for a just a moment there I thought that “NetsforLife” was an organization that supports adoption rather than abortion and that alternatives to abortion might be discussed at General Convention.
I should have known better, because as I read further I realized that “NetsforLife” is focused on preventing malaria and the subject of a fetus’s “Right to Life” is NOT a subject that our leaders plan to discuss at General Convention or anywhere else.
