  1. Chazaq says:

Some nuggets from a few of the Parochial Reports:

“Note – This report is necessarily fragmentary and incomplete owing to the fact that there has been no Minister in charge for the past four months.”

“The members of the parish during the past year had to make up between $300 and $400, losses occasioned by several deaths, and about $50 for Diocesan Missions. They have done these acts and have merited praise by their generous responses. They have surprised both themselves and their Rector. All was done willingly and promptly and quietly.”

“The absence of the Rector at the General Convention in San Francisco, and after his return two severe accidents, dislocating his right shoulder and injuring his right wrist, have interfered with his parish work and make this report imperfect in several particulars. No Episcopal visitation during the year.” [not that they are complaining, or anything]

“As Dean of St. Andrew’s Divinity School, besides the general care of the house, [The Rev. Theodore Babcock, D.D.] has given constant personal attention to the supervision and instruction of the students, with generally satisfactory results.”
