English teacher (#4), as I understand it his term as primate is simply up. I think the Primate of the Church of Nigeria, Anglican Communion serves for 10 years. His term began in Feb. 2000 and it will end in Feb. 2010. There’s an overlap of a few months with the newly elected primate, who will then take over completely in Feb.
I imagine that Archbishop Akinola is going to find plenty of things to do, and I doubt very much that he will be quiet while doing them. I want to hear much more from him.
Thanks Spiro for the good news. may the Lion of Nigeria continue serving the Lord until his last breath and may our newest Primate remain strong in Christ for the tens of millions of Christians that he serves.
This is an excellent choice.
The liberals hated/hate Akinola.
They are going to hate this man ten times more.
He is AKINOLA times ten.

While I find Spiro’s comment chilling, I will [edited] pray for ++Okoh.

My reaction was “poor guy”.
The biggest boots in Christendom, outside Rome. Definately needs our prayers.
