The Bishop of St Albans responds to Vatican's Apostolic Constitution

I am unaware of any clergy or lay people in the Diocese of St Albans who have decided to take up this offer of joining one of the ”˜Personal Ordinariates’ yet. Personally, I will feel sad if anyone decides to leave us. However, there has always been two-way traffic between the Roman Catholic Church and the Church of England. I expect that we will still see a small but steady stream of Roman Catholics being received into the Church of England. Meanwhile, the overwhelming majority of people in St Albans Diocese will continue to worship and serve their communities as before and are preparing for enthusiastic and joyful celebrations of Advent and Christmas.

Nothing to worry about, we have never been better, lots of wonderful and exciting things going on – do you know Advent and Christmas are coming up? Well they are you know! RC’s hammering at our doors to get in, dum de dum..All is wellâ„¢

yes the Vaticans offer is so unthreatening and of little consequence that he felt the need to post his thoughts all over the front of his diocese….

I can think of several in his diocese who will be taking this offer VERY seriously- perhaps he ought to talk to them?!

#2 That’s interesting. I was taken by an item on the diocesan website: “Bishop goes to prison”, but sadly the article wasn’t anything like as engaging as the headline promised.

Pageantmaster: there are former RC women in St Alban’s diocese, as in all dioceses, who have joined the C of E and become Anglican priests, so the traffic does go both ways.

#4 Of course there are. All is wellâ„¢

Ah yes, the small but steady stream of former RCs fleeing to the Anglican Communion. Such a noble band of noble souls.

    4. Fr. Mark,

The movement of secularized Catholics to the C of E is part of the problem for the Anglican Communion. Such movement has only accelerated the need for many who are faithful to the teachings of Christ to find shelter. And find shelter in the Barque of Peter, I hope they will. It is their last best hope for survival at all, for the once Catholic Anglicans and those of their ilk have only created a hostile environment in which they can no longer flourish.

Were I an Anglican, I could hardly be proud of such movements which have upset the balance and lead to the further undoing of the C of E.
