I have a simpler view of tings. When ever anyone innovates or suddenly claims they have discovered something that the Fathers of the Church and all its saints were wrong about, I dismiss it. When you stop to think about most heretics are incredibly arrogant.

“If it’s old it it may (or may not) be gold. But if it’s new, it is definitely not true.”

Uggh “tings” = things.

This is an excellent summary. It is also excellent advocacy. He knows his audience will not be receptive to what he has to say and he tells them so. There is no effort to persuade them because he knows what he has to say will fall on deaf ears but he has to tell them anyway because it’s the truth. Outstanding presentation.

Ad O.,
I’d have to disagree – that which you suggest is not so simple a proposition. Grant’s (and the conservative team as he refers to them) is the simpler still. Read the bible. And -as he says in rebuttal to the liberal paper – don’t be hypocritical about saying you are holding one part of scripture to be authoritative while holding another in contempt.

forgot to add:
And on your appraisal of heretics, yes and amen.
