Here is one:
The track marks of the Pope’s tanks are still visible on the Archbishop of Canterbury’s lawn after the former’s invitation to disaffected Anglican priests to convert to Rome. Now that Rome is in turmoil, it is time for the archbishop to invite Roman Catholics who despair of their church’s hubris over child abuse to move to Canterbury.
Then the archbishop should move to canonise that most saintly of Englishmen, John Henry Newman, and claim him once again for England.

I think that Kendall intended to create a hyperlink. Here it is:

How deeply ignorant of Catholicism, Anglicanism and indeed history; or just plain moronic; does one have to be to write that final line in a letter to a national newspaper? I can respect informed criticism, but bigots hurling from the ditch I have absolutely no time for.
Contrary to Masterpiece Theater and the opinion of Anglophiles everywhere, its seems the British race has it own share of the intellectual and moral deficient.
I would say that was on par with much of what I have been reading in the press of late. As an aside I suspect many serious Catholics would be overjoyed if TEO or the Anglican Communion invited their theological dissidents to swim the Thames. I know of more than a few who would take up a collection for their taxi fare to the nearest Episcopal temple.
Christ is risen!
I have to agree with Conchur about that last line.
Huh? Does he not understand that Newman converted to Rome? Why on earth would we Anglicans wish to “claim him”?
I don’t get it. I can only assume that he is just clueless. If Anglicans are going to start canonizing and claiming RCs than I vote for our claiming Chesterton!
Thank you dear Ï€Ïος Ανατολή. On a day when I was filled with gloom at the news (Richard Dawkins et al) you got me laughing …
